Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel is extremely durable, beautiful, and quite easy to care for.  In recent years there has been a trend of people choosing stainless steel jewelry pieces over those made of precious metals. For those of you wanting the weight of Sterling without the price and hassle of tarnishing, Stainless Steel is the way to go!

Aside from being much more affordable than Sterling, it is also hypoallergenic, making it a great choice for someone whose skin is sensitive to metal. It also resists corrosion and oxidation and therefore will not tarnish or rust.

Stainless steel also produces less waste during the manufacturing process compared to other metals and is 100% recyclable...making it one of the most Eco-Friendly materials on earth!

To clean, simply wash your stainless steel jewelry in a bit of water and liquid dish soap, rinse, and rub dry with a soft cloth. While water will not harm stainless, always remove when swimming, working out, and cleaning. Avoid exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, household cleaners, and detergents, and store your pieces in a cool, dry area.

Titanium

Titanium is an amazing, lightweight, durable and strong metal which is resistant to corrosion and rust, and is considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic metals. Titanium is about 40% lighter in weight than stainless steel, with all the strength and durability.  It is a reactive metal which can be colored through an anodizing technique using electricity.  When electricity is introduced, the oxidation and electrical current create color. This process actually colors the metal and is not a dye, making each ring a one of a kind creation!

Friction with the body through every day use may cause anodized titanium to gradually fade over time, as it does with all anodized surfaces. However, anodized titanium tends to be a bit tougher than anodized aluminum and should last for years.

To help prevent the anodized color from fading, gently wipe your jewelry with a clean cloth after you wear it and store it in a plastic bag to reduce exposure to the elements. As with all jewelry, always remove when swimming, working out, and cleaning. Avoid exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, household cleaners, and detergents, and store your pieces in a cool, dry area.

Your titanium pieces can be cleaned by simply soaking in warm water and liquid dish soap for about 5 minutes, rinse, and pat dry with soft cloth.

                                                      Aluminum

This cost-effective material is sure to be a stunning addition to your wardrobe, with all the appeal of Sterling but without the risk and hassle of tarnishing. The perfect material for every-day wear jewelry, our bright aluminum rings are a shiny silver, giving the appearance of Sterling Silver at a fraction of the cost and weight, and will fool people time and time again!

Aluminum is one of the lightest metals available, weighing 1/3 the weight of sterling silver and most other metals. Even large statement pieces are lightweight and comfortable to wear. So light in fact, you may even forget you're wearing them at all!

Aluminum will not tarnish or rust. It is a self-healing metal that slowly reacts with oxygen to develop a clear and protective layer of aluminum oxide, which naturally occurs over time. It does not contain iron, so it will not rust. It also does not contain copper, silver, lead, brass, and cadmium.

Cleaning your treasured jewelry pieces could not be easier, since there is no need for any type of specialty cleaners.  For bright aluminum as well as anodized aluminum, simply soak for a few minutes in warm water and liquid dish soap, rinse, and pat dry with a soft cloth.

Unless you have a fairly rare type of metal allergy, this material makes a great hypoallergenic choice. It does not contain nickel, a common allergen in jewelry. If you are known to suffer from metal allergies, always consult your doctor before trying any new metals.

Last but not least...aluminum is Eco Friendly!  It can be melted down and reformed continuously without any impact on quality, and is one of the most recyclable materials on earth.

While caring for your aluminum jewelry comes with less hassle than other metals, always remember to remove your pieces when swimming, working out, and cleaning. Avoid exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, household cleaners, and detergents, and store your pieces in a cool, dry area.

                                                         Copper

Copper has been associated with many healing benefits, increased energy, pain relief, blood flow support and more. Copper will naturally darken, tarnish and patina over time as it is exposed to the air. Some skin types can also cause copper to tarnish more quickly. It is a personal choice whether or not to continue wearing the patinaed piece, or to polish your piece clean and shiny...either way is beautiful!

You can keep your copper jewelry clean by occasionally washing it with lukewarm soapy water, using a soft toothbrush or fine steel wool for a soft scrub, then dry and polish it with a soft cloth. You can purchase special cleaners or polishing cloths made specifically to keep copper tarnish free. There are many DIY techniques you can also find online to clean your patinaed copper.

The best method to keep your copper jewelry nice and shiny is to store it in a re-sealable plastic bag or jewelry case with anti-tarnish paper when not in use.  Make sure your jewelry is clean and moisture free before storing.

Chlorine and salt will permanently damage copper. Moisture and heat will speed up the tarnishing process. Remove your copper jewelry when swimming, bathing, cleaning, and working out. Avoid exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, household cleaners, and detergents.

                                               Swarovski Crystals

Swarovski Crystals are delicate and should be gently handled and stored in the original packaging or a soft pouch to avoid scratches. To clean your crystals, simply wash in a bit of cool water and liquid dish soap, then gently rub dry with a soft cloth. Do NOT use an ultra-sonic jewelry cleaner or any abrasive cleaners. Remove before swimming, working out, bathing, or applying lotions, and avoid exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, household cleaners, and detergents.

Mermaid Scales are created from Stainless Steel 316L. A clear topcoat seal has been applied to the scales to protect the powder coating from tarnish or fading. Do not use abrasive or specialty cleaners to clean, simply soak for a few minutes in warm water and liquid dish soap, rinse, and pat dry with a soft cloth.

Silver/Gold Some of our jewelry findings such as ear wires, clasps, and pendants, are silver or gold filled, or silver or gold plated. Findings that are showing signs of tarnish can be buffed with a jewelry polishing cloth. You can also soak in warm water and liquid dish soap for a few minutes, and use a soft toothbrush to gently scrub the tarnish away, rinse, then pat dry with soft cloth. Avoid exposure to chemicals such as chlorine or bleach, household cleaners, and detergents. Store in a cool, dry area.  Airtight containers or anti-tarnish paper can be used to slow down oxidation.
